Even after tighter environmental regulations, China's agrochemical industry remains one of the main suppliers of plant protection products
Since 2017, environmental regulations and inspections have had a significant impact on the Chinese pesticide industry. China's environmental policy aims to help eliminate unlicensed manufacturers and promote the development of leading enterprises.
By 2025, manufacturers of chemicals that bring their activities in line with safety standards, transfer production to special industrial parks in China, or close their facilities. This regulation to some extent affected the supply of intermediate pesticides, as small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as large enterprises with serious potential risks, must fulfill the prescribed measures, having completed them by the end of 2020.
At the same time, the use of pesticides in China itself has been steadily declining over the past years. The goal is to achieve zero growth in the amount of pesticides used in the agro-industrial complex of the PRC by 2020.
The internal regulation of the Chinese pesticide market has benefited those companies that have already modernized their production processes and have a highly integrated supply chain, are able to independently produce the necessary raw materials in order to avoid high purchase costs.
As China is the largest exporter of pesticides in the world, the country is highly dependent on the development of global markets and the demand for agrochemicals.
The following is a list of the 30 largest Chinese manufacturers, based on 2017 export sales, compiled from customs and the Ministry of Agriculture of the PRC. List provided by CCPIA has been published I www.agribusinessglobal.co.
