The meeting of the Rosselkhoznadzor with the German Union of Breeders and Seed Potato Producers took place on the sidelines of the Green Week 2018 international agricultural exhibition-fair in Berlin. The key topic of the dialogue was the discussion of the results of pre-shipment control of consignments of seed potatoes intended for deliveries from Germany to Russia.
In this vein, the Russian side drew the attention of German colleagues to the need to comply with phytosanitary requirements and improve the quality of seed potatoes when supplied to Russia. The reason for this was the repeated detection of non-quarantine organisms in the supplied seed material, as well as restrictions associated with the supply of planting material from Germany to Russia.
In order to ensure the traceability of the seed supplied to Russia, the Russian side voiced the need for the German side to specify the volumes of products and recipients of the seed in Russia supposed for deliveries to Russia.
German colleagues suggested that the Rosselkhoznadzor experts consider a visit to Germany in order to familiarize themselves with the existing production system and phytosanitary control.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the negotiations and agreed to continue consideration of all issues of interest at the specialist level.
