First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov held a meeting of the operational headquarters for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the republic, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia reports.
The event was attended by deputy heads of districts and heads of the agro-industrial complex management bodies of municipal administrations.
During the meeting, the issues of completion of spring sowing in Dagestan, readiness for harvesting grain crops, sowing rice and providing farmers with irrigation water, laying intensive gardens, planting potatoes and vegetables in open ground, as well as transhumance and preparation for combating locust pests were considered.
Sharip Sharipov noted that the agrarians of the region increased the area under open ground potatoes and vegetables in the commodity sector by 20%.
In addition, reports were heard from representatives of the regions on the readiness of farmers to purchase the necessary volumes of chemicals for locust control. All municipalities lagging behind in meeting the targets were given recommendations to address emerging problems.
As Sharip Sharipov noted, in general, all sectoral plans in the region are being implemented. At the same time, well-coordinated work of authorities at all levels is necessary for the effective mobilization of available resources.
“Support from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and our regional leadership allows us to set higher goals. In the current conditions, our agricultural products are in demand, and Dagestan must make its contribution to ensuring the country's food security,” said the First Deputy Minister.
