In 2020, agricultural producers in the Nizhny Novgorod region received 140 million rubles of federal and regional subsidies for the development of land reclamation, which is a third more than in 2019.
This was announced by the regional minister of agriculture and food resources Nikolai Denisov.
“Land reclamation significantly increases the productivity of agricultural crops. For example, the yield of potatoes has been increased from 250 quintals to 500 quintals per hectare, carrots - up to 900 quintals. Ultimately, this allows farmers to produce more products, thereby gaining additional income, "Nikolai Denisov emphasized.
The head of the agrarian department noted that the area under irrigated lands increases annually in the region. Agrarians grow potatoes, carrots, zucchini, cabbage, fruit and berry crops on them.
“This year alone, reclamation works were carried out on an area of about two thousand hectares, which is almost 190 hectares or 10% more than last year. The development of land reclamation will continue. In 2021, there are plans to introduce reclamation systems on an area of 1700 hectares, ”added Nikolai Denisov.
In 2020, reclamation work was carried out on the farms of the Arzamassky, Shatkovsky and Sergachsky regions.
