Late carrots are harvested in the Volgograd region. In one of the farms in the Sredneakhtubinsky district, new agricultural machinery is helping to accelerate the pace of field work. The technique was acquired as an experiment to evaluate the effect of replacing manual labor with mechanized ones. Carrots shake on the conveyor belt, hence the name of the principle of machine harvesting - pulling.
The average root vegetable weight is about 170 grams. And this is despite the fact that due to the cold spring and abnormally hot summer, the sowing time for carrots on the farm has shifted by 2-3 weeks.
Cleaning has been going on for the second week. The farm plans to harvest about 60 thousand tons of Cordoba carrots from an area of 4 hectares.
The onion has already been harvested. This crop covered 80 hectares. According to the agrarians, there is a loss of production due to a lack of labor. Actually, their shortage is the reason for the transition to the mechanization of labor.
Part of the harvest of late carrots has already been laid for long-term storage. About 700 tons were placed in one of the six chambers of the vegetable warehouse. It was built back in 2016 at the expense of the enterprise. The modern control system for ventilation, air temperature and humidity allows products to be stored until summer. Carrots will soon be on the shelves of large retail chains in Volgograd and other cities of the country.
