Gowan Crop Protection Limited, a subsidiary of Gowan Co. LLC., Entered into an agreement with Bayer AG to acquire the rights to the active ingredients phenamidone and pencicuron in the USA
The acquisition includes product registration and trademarks, including Consento, Reason, Monceren and Prestige, as well as related intellectual property and labels for both fungicides.
The deals were closed on December 1, although Bayer and Gowan will work together over the next few months to streamline the transfer and maintain quality customer service in all regions. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Pencicuron is a leaf and seed treatment product designed to combat diseases caused by Rhizoctonia solaniin various crops, including potatoes, cotton, rice, lawn grasses and vegetables. The disease is widespread in Russia, Brazil, India and other countries.
Phenamidone is a product for the control of diseases originating from water molds or oomycete fungi, the key ones are downy mildew, late rot and early rot on potatoes, grapes, vegetables and ornamental plants. With sales in the United States, Mexico, India, Russia and Brazil, phenamidone is an essential tool for controlling these diseases for many manufacturers around the world.
Gowan believes that this acquisition will expand the range of products offered and allow the company to better meet the needs of manufacturers.
Gowan, based in Yuma, Arizona, is a developer, registrar, and seller of plant protection products, seeds, and fertilizers.
