Congressmen demand that Donald Trump give priority to the US potato industry in trade negotiations with China
All four members of the U.S. Congress of Maine have joined a group of lawmakers who want President Donald Trump’s administration to prioritize the US potato industry in trade negotiations with China, the Associated Press reports.
Almost forty senators and members of the House of Representatives attribute this to the high value of US $ 3,7 billion worth of potato products, and they believe that China could become the leading market for American potatoes if granted access to it.
Maine Potato Council Executive Director Don Flannery believes it is critical for state growers to have “China and other export markets available” for US potatoes.
