Potato imports to Russia in January-April 2019 amounted to 136,9 thousand tons.
In relation to January-April 2018, volumes decreased by 64,7% (by 250,5 thousand tons).
Imports of ware potatoes to Russia by country of origin
1. Egypt - 46,5% of the total supply. The volume of imports from this country in 2018 amounted to 351,5 thousand tons, which is 8,5% (27,5 thousand tons) more than a year earlier.
2. Belarus - 34,3%. The volume of imports amounted to 259,2 thousand tons, which is 95,9 thousand tons less than in 2017.
3. Azerbaijan - 8,5%; 64,0 thousand tons (an increase of 12,1%).
4. China - 7,0%; 53,2 thousand tons (decrease by 28,3%).
5. Pakistan - 2,4%; 18,3 thousand tons (an increase of 390,9%).
In 2018, total deliveries of potatoes from countries not included in the TOP-5 suppliers amounted to 9,5 thousand tons (1,3% of the total import).
The main countries-suppliers of potatoes to Russia in January-April 2019: Egypt - 59,4 thousand tons (a decrease in supplies compared to January-April 2018 was 75,6%) and Belarus - 54,3 thousand tons (supplies decreased by 53,4%).
In the structure of supplies in January-April 2019, 43,4% fell on Egypt, 39,7% - on Belarus, 9,2% - on Pakistan, 3,2% - on Azerbaijan, 2,1% - on China, 2,5 , XNUMX% - to other countries.

2018 was characterized by an increase in prices for potatoes delivered to Russia. The average cost of supplying one ton of ware potatoes was at the level of 313,3 USD / t, which is 3,3% more than in 2017. Thus, prices for Belarusian potatoes are the lowest. This is due to the fact that the Belarusian potato is in this case an analogue of the Russian one, it is delivered to the Russian Federation not only in the off-season, but also during the harvesting campaign in the Russian Federation.
Potatoes from most other countries are mainly delivered between March and July. This, as a rule, is a potato of a new crop (Egypt, China), early potato (Azerbaijan), which is why its high price is associated.
Prices for Israeli potatoes are the highest, due to the high degree of pre-sale preparation of this potato (usually selected washed goods). Chinese potatoes are also sold at a relatively high cost. This is due to the fact that it comes mainly to the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, where there is a shortage of local potatoes. It also notes the highest level of consumer (retail) prices in the Russian Federation.
Average prices for ware potatoes imported from all countries in January-April 2019 amounted to 347 USD / t, which is 4,9% more than the average value for the same period in 2018. In terms of rubles, prices increased by 16,0% and amounted to 22 RUB / t.
As in 2018, the lowest prices in 2019 were observed for Belarusian products - 186 USD / t or 12 RUB / t. On average, the cost of deliveries of 151 ton of Belarusian potatoes decreased in January-April 1, compared to the same period in 2019, in dollar terms by 2018%, in rubles - by 22,1%.
Potato prices from Pakistan decreased: from 531 USD / t in January-April 2018 to 370 USD / t in January-April 2019 (in terms of rubles, prices decreased by 25,9% to 23 902 RUB / t. In Chinese potato prices decreased by 9,9% to 431 USD / t (in rubles by 0,1% to 28 RUB / t).
The growth in prices was observed for potatoes from Azerbaijan - by 0,1% to 449 USD / t in January-April 2019 (in rubles by 7,7% to 29 RUB / t). Prices for Israeli potatoes increased by 060% to 3,2 USD / t (in rubles by 621% to 15,6 RUB / t). Egyptian potatoes rose in price by 40% to 369 USD / t in January-April 31,1 (in terms of rubles, by 466% to 2019 RUB / t).
