Astrakhan farmers are fully prepared for spring field work, said Ruslan Pashayev, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the region, on his official Instagram account on March 1.
“The forecast for sown areas of agricultural crops for 2022 in the organized sector is 90 thousand hectares with an increase of 105% compared to last year. Preparations for spring field work are going on as usual, farmers are provided with all the necessary material and technical resources,” Pashayev wrote.
He clarified that at present the region's farmers are preparing seedlings for early vegetable crops, and in some areas of the region they have begun sowing in greenhouses for seedlings of early vegetable crops.
“The provision of seed and planting materials in the region is 85%, the remaining volume has been contracted and will be delivered in the near future. For planting early potatoes, seed material has been prepared, which is currently being germinated, under an area of 5,5 thousand hectares (14 thousand tons),” the minister added.
According to him, the purchase of mineral fertilizers is on schedule: it is planned to increase the volume of mineral fertilizers by 140% compared to last year.
