A new laboratory for plant protection classes has been opened at the Bashkir State Agrarian University (BashGAU). It will train students of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Forestry. The company "August" financed the refurbishment of the premises, the purchase of laboratory stands, educational furniture, a TV set and a video-conferencing system, as well as a desktop computer. The University, as co-financing of the project, provided tablets on which the August application was installed. It contains an atlas of harmful objects, information about preparations and protection systems for various crops, useful calculators for certain agrotechnical measures.
“I would like to express my gratitude to our partners for allocating funds for the creation of a laboratory that will improve the quality of training specialists. Students will be trained using modern technologies,” said Nail Yunusbaev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Digitalization of Bashkir State Agrarian University.
For classes on the basis of the laboratory, the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Forestry, together with the Competence Center of the Bashkir State Agrarian University, developed educational modules on plant protection. Students of such areas of study as "Agronomy", "Agrochemistry and Agrosoil Science", "Forestry", "Landscape Architecture" will study in the laboratory. The room is equipped with everything necessary for student research projects, as well as video conferencing equipment, which makes it possible to conduct remote consultations.
“Today, the most scarce profession in the region is an agronomist,” said Lyalya Davletbaeva, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan. – Taking into account the fact that our farmers are switching to high-tech production, modern processing methods and equipment require new knowledge. Such laboratories allow students to leave the university with the competencies that the employer needs.”
August specialists will give lectures on digitalization in agriculture for students of Bashkir State Agrarian University in the new classroom.
“We are helping to ensure that competent agronomists graduate from agricultural universities, in which our company is also interested,” says Rinat Khaziev, a representative of JSC Firma Avgust, the group's leading manager for the West Siberian region. – We create such classrooms and laboratories in many Russian agricultural universities and in each of them we conduct training, lectures, practical classes, share our knowledge and technologies with students. We hope that most of the graduates will return to the village and work on the land.”
Also, a cooperation agreement was signed between BashGAU and JSC Firm "August". Its main areas are the conduct of joint scientific research, the passage of practice and internships by students and teachers in the subdivisions of "August".
