The head of the main department of foreign economic activity of the Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus Alexei Bogdanov said that the republic plans to start exporting its own potatoes to the EU countries.
“We are now actively working to open the supply of Belarusian potatoes to the European market,” RIA Novosti quoted Bogdanov as saying.
He noted that at present Belarus does not have such a right in connection with a number of internal EU directives.
According to him, Minsk has filed an application for recertification of its lands, the European Commission is considering this issue.
Bogdanov added that the main export of Belarusian potatoes is currently focused on Russia.
