The Ministry of Agriculture called the Bryansk region the leader in potato production in Russia.
“In 2017, the region set a record for harvested grain,” - with reference to the ministry, the regional government reported.
So, "In the production of potatoes by agricultural enterprises, the Bryansk region confidently takes first place in Russia."
The share of Bryansk potatoes in the total production in Russia is 12%. Bryansk potatoes are delivered to all major trading networks of the country, as well as to countries near and far abroad, including Belarus. At the same time, according to the regional government, Belarus, which has always been famous for its potatoes, has begun supplying chips of Bryansk potato chips.
According to Governor Alexander Bogomaz, "Such a breakthrough in the agricultural sector" due to the implementation of the program for the development of agriculture.
“We succeeded in achieving such results through the use of the most advanced scientific developments, the creation of competitive products, professionalism and great love for our work,” - said Bogomaz.
Last year, 1,5 million tons of potatoes were harvested in the region. The average yield, according to the regional government, was about 350 centners per hectare.
