Prices for carrots in Ukraine began to rise on the eve of the New Year holidays, while the pace of trade over the past two weeks has also gradually increased, according to project analysts. Eastfruit.
Experts explain the increase in prices by the fact that many local producers are running out of stocks of carrots, wholesale companies and retail chains have begun to actively replenish stocks of this root crop after the New Year holidays.
According to the daily monitoring of the project, today the prices for carrots in Ukraine vary within 7-11 UAH / kg ($ 0,25-0,40 / kg), depending on the quality, batch size and region of production. Thus, since the end of December last year, carrots have risen in price by an average of 19%.
To date, sales of products from unequipped storage facilities are almost complete, and the supply of substandard carrots has also noticeably decreased, which in turn allowed manufacturers to increase prices for high-quality products.
As a result of the rise in price today, prices for carrots in Ukraine are on average 2,2 times higher than in the same period last year. But most of the key market players believe that the rise in prices is temporary, more active growth in prices should be expected towards the end of the season.
