This week in Ukraine the potato market has seen an increase in prices, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. First of all, market players explain the upward price trend by bad weather, which caused problems with potato harvesting in a number of regions of the country.
According to the daily monitoring of the project, from the beginning of the week, potatoes in Ukraine rose by an average of 13%. Today, farmers declare prices for these products in the range of 7-10 UAH / kg ($ 0,27-0,39 / kg) depending on quality, variety and region.
Due to adverse weather conditions that were observed at the beginning of the week almost throughout the country, in some regions potato harvesting was difficult, as a result of which the volume of products that could be shipped to the market decreased slightly. At the same time, sales rates remained stable, due to which producers managed to slightly increase selling prices in the potato segment.
It is worth noting that today the price of potatoes in Ukraine is almost 2 times higher than in the same period last year. For comparison: then the shipment of these products was not more than 5 UAH / kg.
