The management of the agricultural company Melagro, which grows potato for Lays chips in the Melenkovsky district of the Vladimir region, intends to control the growth of the crop from a bird's eye view.
“Just yesterday we brought a drone”- said Andrey Sinitsyn, the owner of Melagro, a potato growing company, answering questions about the use of high technologies in agriculture in the Vladimir region as part of the Zerno discussion project.
According to Sinitsyn, who uses advanced innovations in his household, he drew attention to the successful use of drones 8 years ago in America, where he often happens on business:
«They have a lot of small aircraft there, and they have been doing all this for a long time. But this was not available with us. And now it has become - cameras have appeared that can take pictures in certain spectra».

A special drone that will monitor the state of the fields in the Melenkovsky district of the Vladimir region was bought this year. The reason is the very rainy summer of last year: capricious weather destroyed a significant portion of the crop in Melgagro (it is from this potato, for example, Lays chips).
Andrey Sinitsin (photo Grain Project) “We are so arranged that at first a person has a problem, and then he looks for how to solve it. And last year such a problem appeared - there was a lot of precipitation. And because of this, we are losing a lot of areas, and the harvest that was originally expected. What was happening then was not fully recognized: because the areas are huge, agronomists could not assess and convey the real state of affairs. And only in the fall, when there was cleaning, we realized that we had lost - and lost quite a lot. After that, I started thinking about how to solve this problem. And today we bought the equipment ", - Sinitsyn tells.
A drone that can take pictures in different spectra monitors the state of crops, and the program to which it is connected keeps statistics:
“Once a week, a person will launch this drone, which flies along a given trajectory at a certain height and takes certain pictures. And he makes them in a certain spectrum in which problems can be seen. Problems can be associated with diseases, with some kind of agrotechnical violations, these can be problems with pests and may just be an uninhabited area. And it will be immediately visible, now there will simply be more control. ”
Andrei Sinitsyn is one of two heads of agricultural enterprises in Russia who are engaged in field leveling - that is, leveling its surface. In addition, Melagro has completely round fields: 1400 hectares of irrigated areas are processed by 15 irrigation machines.
