The Tula region demonstrates a steady pace of development of the agro-industrial complex. Agriculture specializes in the cultivation of grain, sugar beets, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and berries. In 2021, the total sown area of agricultural crops amounted to more than 935 thousand hectares, which is 6 thousand hectares more than last year. More than 2,1 million tons of grain, 152 thousand tons of rapeseed, 470 thousand tons of potatoes have already been harvested. Now the harvesting of potatoes, vegetables, soybeans, sunflowers, buckwheat and corn continues.
The progress of seasonal field work and preliminary results in the plant growing industry of the Tula region were the main topics of the visit of the first deputy minister of agriculture Dzhambulat Khatuov to the region. He also held a meeting with the largest agricultural producers.
The development of potato growing became a key topic at the meeting with the farmers of the region. This subsector is one of the main in the crop production of the Tula region. Despite unfavorable weather conditions this year, the region maintains a leading position in potato production in the Central Federal District. The region has great potential for further development through the use of modern agro-technological methods, varietal renewal, the construction of vegetable stores, as well as the introduction of unused agricultural land into circulation. In turn, agricultural producers announced plans to increase potato production, including through the implementation of new projects for irrigation of fields and modernization of the reclamation complex.
Dzhambulat Khatuov also visited a number of agricultural enterprises producing potatoes and vegetables in open field.
