The head of the potato department of the Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center, candidate of agricultural sciences Alexander Cheremisin announced forecasts for the potato crop.
He suggests that due to the cold winter and rainy August will be able to collect a little less than last year.
“Our research center grows potatoes for seeds, so we collect the standard rate of 18-20 tons per hectare. In other areas, different crops. So, we went to Pushkino, there from 30 to 40 tons per hectare. The farmers in Russkaya Polyana harvest reaches up to 50 tons per hectare. Of course, this year it is planned to collect a little less than last year. The reason is the cold spring and the high rainfall in late summer, " - noted Alexander Cheremisin.
Note that the Omsk agrarians predict a decrease in yields for all crops due to abnormal cold weather this spring. Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region, Maxim Chekusov, said that some crops, in particular, wheat, did not have time to sow.
