What crops are grown by the readers of the Potato System magazine?
To get an up-to-date answer to this question (and to draw a conclusion: what should we write about more often in the magazine), we organized two polls in the specialized telegram channels of the publication ("Agronomy" and "Agronomy-onion "). A total of 225 people have already taken part in them.
The first poll was devoted to potatoes and vegetables, and, as expected, its participants gave the "palm" to the main positions for our magazine in the list: 55% of respondents are engaged in the production of table potatoes, and 28% - of seed.
Onions and carrots are also popular with the audience (both crops received 25% of the votes each). Slightly less common are beets and cabbage (24% each). The category of “off-the-go picking” is noticeably lagging behind: tomato, cucumber, pepper, watermelon and melon together won 13% of the votes.
14% of the respondents are engaged in the cultivation of garlic. And greens (salads, parsley, onion-feathers) and sugar beets close the "standings" - these positions are interesting for 6% of survey participants.
Based on the results of the second survey, we have compiled a rating of the most demanded non-vegetable crops. The first line in our top-9 was naturally taken by wheat (winter and spring) - 27% of the votes. A little less - 23% - received the category “other cultures” (it would be interesting to continue the conversation on this topic and clarify - which ones?). Readers gave 17% of votes for rye and corn (including silage), 15% - for barley. Sunflower (13%) and peas (12%) lagged behind barley. And at the very end of the list are soybeans (9%) and oats (8%).
The data is changing as opinions are still being taken into account. We will definitely take into account both ratings when forming the article plan for 2022.
