Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that will enable farmers to build houses on their agricultural land. The document was published on Friday on the portal of legal information.
Nowadays, even their owners cannot build houses or household premises on farm land. The drafters of the law noted that this hinders the development of small business, in particular, farming.
The document permits the construction of one residential building on a plot of agricultural land. At the same time, the building itself should have a maximum of three floors, and its total area should be no more than 500 square meters. The building area under the house should not exceed 0,25 percent of the land area. Also, the building will be tied to land, which, if misused by the owner, the state can seize.
In addition, the law gives each region the right to separately determine the municipalities on the territory of which the construction, reconstruction and operation of farm houses will be prohibited.
The law will come into force on March 1, 2022.
Earlier, Nikolai Nikolayev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations, said that about 170 thousand peasant farms are now registered in the country. Considering that very often they are located quite far from settlements, the norm on a permit for the construction of a residential building on agricultural land is relevant for many, the parliamentarian emphasized.
