The market for vegetable crops and potatoes is developing, with stable areas under crops, their gross yield increases from year to year. This indicates an increase in the intensification of production. Not the last place in the improvement of growing technologies is the protection of plants from diseases and pests.
To date, the range of registered preparations for the protection of vegetable crops is quite wide, but they do not always provide complete and safe protection. Producers need new solutions that will help protect vegetable crops from fungal diseases and preserve future crops.
Syngenta carries out the latest developments in its own large research and development division. Since this year, the company has been offering a new fungicide, MIRAVIS®, based on the ADEPIDIN® technology. It will help protect various crops for a long time at a radically new level from a wide range of fungal diseases, even in difficult weather conditions.
"Heart" of fungicide MIRAVIS® – innovative molecule N-methoxy-pyrazole-carboxamide (ADEPIDIN technology®), the latest development of Syngenta scientists. This powerful representative of the chemical class of carboxamides has a unique mechanism of action on pathogens and, along with the main diseases of agricultural crops, protects plants from such difficult-to-control pathogens as apple scab, botrytis, sclerotinia and fusarium. On vegetable crops, the main spectrum of action of the drug MIRAVIS® - Alternaria, powdery mildew, neck rot, septoria, stemfilia, etc.
Unique properties of ADEPIDIN technology® provide three main mechanisms of action on harmful objects:
- The pyrazole part of the molecule provides a powerful effect on pathogens.
- The N-methoxy moiety gives the widest spectrum of activity among molecules of a similar class (SDHI-carboxamides).
- The lipophilic part of the molecule (ethyl bridge and phenyl) provides long-lasting action, rain resistance and UV resistance.
Thanks to these features, the fungicide MIRAVIS® highly effective in controlling a wide range of various fungal diseases of many vegetable crops.
Bow
Double use of Miravis® on the onion allows you to protect it from a complex of diseases: Alternaria, Stemfilia (black mold), Fusarium rot of the bottom and neck rot. Given the shift in the vector of onion production towards storage, the issue of long-term preservation of onions without losses from such a fungal pathogen as neck rot is especially relevant.
Prevention of cervical rot of onions is a whole range of measures, including protection of onions during the growing season from peronosporosis, Alternaria, tobacco thrips, lepidopterous pests; balanced mineral nutrition and, at the end of the growing season, before lodging the tops, the second treatment with MIRAVIS®, which closes this chain and keeps the crop healthy until the spring.
Carrots
In the second half of the growing season, especially when the air temperature drops and heavy rainfall occurs, carrots are attacked by powdery mildew and alternariosis. Preventive treatments will save the culture - MIRAVIS® at a dosage of 0,35-0,4 l/ha closes the "gates" to fungal pathogens, helps to preserve not only the vegetative mass, but also the quality of the future crop.
White rot of carrots (sclerotinia, ex. sclerotinia spp.) is a big problem for many manufacturers. This pathogen does not manifest itself in the field; it can only be detected during storage. Infection occurs during the growing season, and it is very important to get a healthy root crop by the time of harvesting. In the second half of the growing season, when the extreme leaves have not yet touched the soil or the top of the carrot root crop, it is important to apply MIRAVIS® at a dosage of 1,0 l / ha - this will ensure control of the disease and extend the shelf life of carrots.
Cabbage
Preventive treatments with MIRAVIS fungicide® against alternariosis help protect cabbage and get a quality crop.
Potato
One of the pathogens that cause serious damage to farmers when growing potatoes is Alternaria. It develops especially strongly in areas with predominantly dry and hot weather. The crop shortfall due to the early death of the tops reaches 50%, especially on potato varieties susceptible to the disease.
According to studies, the best strategy for controlling Alternaria is to start treatments with a contact preparation, and then use systemic drugs (one treatment for Alternaria for two treatments for late blight). There are several types of Alternaria, and some of them are difficult to deal with with the usual means. True Pathogen Alternaria Solani amenable to complete or partial containment of fungicides, but saprophyte A. alternata is a difficult pathogen to control. It is impossible to predict which type of Alternaria will infect potatoes during the growing season. Efficacy of control with Miravis® is 100% for A.solani and 70-80% for A. alternata, which is much higher than that of the main fungicides of this spectrum of action.
At the same time, the control of alternariosis must be carried out comprehensively, treatment should be started prophylactically and alternated with drugs with active ingredients from other chemical groups (SCOR®, REVUS® Top). MIRAVIS® can be used in tank mix with REVUS preparations® or KARIAL® Flex.
