The Governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov, pointed out the difficult situation for the regional agro-industrial complex in the context of the continuing drought. “The situation is critical,” the head of the region said at a press conference on Wednesday, January 13.
According to him, at the moment only 50% of seedlings have appeared in the Stavropol region, of which only 17% are in satisfactory condition.
The governor called on farmers to insure crops to compensate for expected losses. The plans are to insure crops on an area of at least 1 million hectares, - he specified.
In general, given the new drought conditions, the Governor of the Stavropol Territory noted the importance of "making land reclamation faster".
In addition, Vladimir Vladimirov sees the need to grow new crops in the Stavropol Territory that can withstand drought conditions. “We need to expand the capabilities of our agro-industrial complex,” said the governor.
