The rapidly growing world population and the trend of eating healthy foods around the world increase the demand for high-performance and product-saving vegetable harvesting equipment. In addition, the shortage of workers for harvesting crops presents vegetable producers with new problems.
The GRIMME group of companies with the trademarks SPUDNIK, ASA-LIFT and GRIMME offer the world's most extensive range of vegetable technology for onions, carrots, red beets, chives, parsnips, fennel, celery, leeks, lettuce, as well as other crop products such as spinach.
Danish manufacturer ASA-LIFT has been active in the sector for over 80 years and is a renowned specialist in vegetable harvesting technology with a focus on customized solutions.
GRIMME Landmaschinenfabrik also has over 50 years of experience in the production of vegetable harvesting equipment. Already in the early 70s, the company produced machines for harvesting onions and carrots.
Today, GRIMME Landmaschinenfabrik develops and manufactures, in addition to harvesters, also tillage and pre-harvest equipment, as well as care and storage equipment.
Mechanical harvesting of cabbage suitable for long-term storage
Already in the past, it was possible to harvest industrial cabbages mechanically, which were sold immediately after harvest or processed into quick-frozen products. In comparison, the harvesting of long-term cabbage is manual and labor-intensive, which is becoming increasingly difficult as a result of a shortage of workers to harvest the vegetables. Having developed a new cabbage harvester MC-1020 DF, the company ASA-LIFT offers a solution for the mechanical harvesting of cabbages suitable for long-term storage. Thanks to the very low receiving device and the product-saving conveyor belt, the harvested cabbage is transferred with only one low fall step into the container. Due to the extremely low mechanical load on the product, it became possible to increase the storage time up to 6 months.
Multitalent EVO AllCrop
The proven concept of the EVO 2017 potato harvester presented in 290 with soil-saving three-wheel undercarriage, 9 t bunker, wide intake channel and various digging options such as ridge drums, swath pick-up or carrot shares form the basis of a multi-talent.
The main structural components of the new EVO AllCrop combine have been modified specifically for harvesting carrots, onions, parsnips, red beets and celeriac root. Significant changes have been made to the separating devices. Instead of a large haulm conveyor and serial separators, two fine haulm elevators are used. Their use is especially advantageous in separating impurities and harvesting field crops that break easily, such as carrots and parsnips. Also available is the SmartView video system with a 12-inch touch screen and unique features such as Zoom, Live Slow Motion, real-time image transmission via Wi-Fi, Visual Protect PRO. This ensures a good overview of all machine functions at all times.
New VT series onion defoliator
Onion haulm removers are used to efficiently remove onion haulm before swathing. With the new VT series it is possible to work ridges with track widths from 150 to 225 cm.
The GRIMME VT is equipped with blades of a special, convex geometric design, which, as a result, create an intense suction action and ensure that even heavy, low-lying onion leaves are cut. In combination with automatic height guidance, this achieves a precise cut at the correct height without damaging the bulb. Only in this form is the onion suitable for long-term storage and later sale. The VT can be controlled comfortably via ISOBUS.
