X5 Retail Group, the largest retailer in Russia, plans to bring its kitchen factory to full capacity next year, which supplies ready-made meals to the group's stores. It is reported by "Interfax".
“We will actively develop the production of ready-made food, we have our own kitchen factory, which we launched in 2019. Now it produces 40 tons of ready-made food per day, which is about 100 thousand piece packaged products. It has a fairly large stock: the maximum capacity of the kitchen is up to 120 tons per day and, accordingly, 300 thousand piece packaged products. We plan that next year the factory will be completely filled, it will operate at full capacity, ”said X5 CEO Igor Shekhterman at the X5-2020 Dialogue conference for partners.
The share of own products will account for about 10-15% in the structure of sales of ready-made food.
“We certainly do not plan to enter this segment ourselves, we have built a kitchen factory in order to develop expertise, to have a certain center of expertise. We plan that our own production will occupy 10-15% of the total volume of ready-made food, which will be sold in our retail chains, and the rest - of course, we will work with partners, ”Shekhterman said.
X5 opened a smart kitchen in May last year. The enterprise, located in the Moscow region, produces ready-made meals - cold and hot snacks, salads, main courses, pastries, pastries, drinks, Korean cuisine, sushi. The factory supplies products to X5 stores (primarily to the Perekrestok supermarkets).
