The inventor promised that his creation would save the potato from all pathogens.
In 1985, Harry Isaacs patented the development of "humigator", which is a combination of a fumigator and a moisturizer. Now he has found in Canada those who want to experience the new product in practice.
In the work of the invention, a device is used to remove mold spores and bacteria from the air inside the potato storage without the use of physical filters or chemicals.
The humidifier draws in the storage air into a special chamber where the atmosphere mixes with water. Moreover, in the process, water droplets of different sizes collide, as a result of which large droplets encapsulate pathogens. Then the large droplets that have captured the pathogens are removed from the chamber by weight separation, and the small droplets are sent back to the potato storage to maintain moisture. Thus, the air is purified from pathogens and humidified.
Initial testing of the invention was carried out in a laboratory where the equipment cleaned indoor air every 11 minutes. After proven effectiveness, the technology was offered to potato growers in Canada and some agreed to experiments in real conditions. (A source: (www.freshplaza.com).
