A new variety of potatoes from breeders from Komi has already gone on sale.
This was told by the acting head of the Komi Scientific Research Institute of the Republic of Komi Andrey Yudin at a press conference on the results of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences for 2017.
As one of the promising areas he highlighted the selection of potato seeds. Already, 12 breeding lines of potatoes with a yield of 400 grams to one and a half kilograms per bush have been allocated.
“Selection work was carried out to create promising potato varieties for the conditions of the Komi Republic, capable of forming a full-fledged crop in conditions of long daylight hours and a short growing season,” said Andrey Yudin.
Two varieties of “northern” potatoes “Zyryanets” and “memory of Polevoy” appeared on the free sale both wholesale and retail. They are resistant to pests and diseases, have good keeping quality and excellent taste.
The variety turned out to be "gold" and for the price: one root crop will cost at least 100 rubles.
