On May 31, in the Tula region, on the territory of the special economic zone "Uzlovaya", the McCain Foods Rus company held a solemn ceremony of laying the first stone at the construction site of a plant for the production of French fries.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Tula Region Alexey Dyumin, the Ambassador of Canada to Russia Alison Leclay and the President of the company McCain Europe, Central Asia and Africa Erwin Pardon.
Opening the meeting, Mr. Pardon noted: “The day has come for which we have been working for so long: today we are officially starting the construction of the plant. From the whole system of enterprises McCain it will become one of the most modern and highly competitive ”.
The head of the company McCain for Europe, Central Asia and Africa, he said that the choice of the Tula region for the location of the plant was due to a number of reasons: “There are fertile lands, many farmers are engaged in growing potatoes, and they can produce exactly the varieties that we need for production.
In addition, the city of Tula itself is close to Moscow, large federal highways pass through it, a well-developed infrastructure, and a lot of highly qualified personnel. Comprehensive support of local authorities and conditions for business development, which are created in the special economic zone, are also of great importance for the company. "
It is planned to put production into operation at the end of 2022. According to experts' forecasts, to reach full capacity (processing more than 200 thousand tons of potatoes and producing more than 100 thousand tons of finished products per year), the plant will need three to four years.
