Laboratories The Institute Ecological and Agricultural Biology (X-BIO) have joined forces to help agricultural enterprises in the Tyumen region. For this research Laboratory of Plant Ecological Physiology and Experimental Phytoecology (head of laboratory Larisa Ivanova), international complex research laboratory for the study of climate change, land use and biodiversity (Head of Laboratory Andrey Yurtayev) and Search Lab "AgroBioIT"(head of the laboratory Aidar Fakhrutdinov) began the implementation of a comprehensive project to develop software and hardware for phytosanitary monitoring in agricultural lands using remote methods as part of the implementation of the strategic project "Biosafe World" of the program "Priority 2030”, reports press service of TyumenУ.
Collaboration is deployed with industrial partners - companies "Agrofirma KRIMM" и UK "Agrointel", agreements on scientific and technical cooperation have been concluded with them. In the fields of agricultural enterprises, work is underway on aerial photography of farmland using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the subsequent calculation of reflection spectrum indices by the leaf canopy of agricultural crops.
The composition of the studied crops and plantings includes potatoes, wheat, oats, soybeans, rapeseed, onions, beets, peas and flax. The coverage area of aerial photography in the near and infrared radiation ranges from 1,5 to 3 thousand hectares per day with a high resolution of 15 cm per 1 pixel.
The complex of ongoing works includes an analysis of the ecophysiological profile and functional state of plants and an agrochemical assessment of soil conditions. The results obtained will make it possible to link the functional state of plants, the agrochemical parameters of the soil with the spectral indices of vegetation calculated from aerial photographs. The use of artificial intelligence technology in the processing of information from UAV images makes it possible to interpret the spectral characteristics of agricultural landscapes and extrapolate the results obtained over vast areas.“Modern crop production is a science-intensive interdisciplinary branch of the national economy, which faces the complex tasks of combining data from different fields of knowledge - soil science, climatology, plant physiology, entomology and plant protection, geographic information systems and many others - to make optimal decisions. The research departments of the X-BIO Institute of Tyumen State University, which over the past few years has become a notable center in the field of research and training of research personnel - masters and postgraduates - in the field of fundamental foundations of the life sciences, can help farmers in this. - Andrey Tolstikov, First Vice-Rector of Tyumen State University, commented on the integration of science and production.
