Pepsico launches a snack plant in India. This is the largest enterprise of this profile in the country. Construction costs were Rs 814 crore (US $ 110 million). The project took less than two years to complete. The company plans to double its production next year.
5 thousand local farmers are engaged in the cultivation of raw materials for the plant. The enterprise plans to annually purchase about 1,5 million tons of potatoes from them.
The company is also preparing to launch a state-of-the-art refrigerated warehouse. According to PepsiCo experts, the cold storage technology will significantly increase the shelf life of potatoes.
