Magnit plans to open an official office in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was announced as part of the company's participation in the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan ”, which takes place from 5 to 7 April in Tashkent. The opening of the office will allow Magnit to increase exports, as well as to actively develop imports with the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East. The format and conditions for opening an office are currently being worked out by the company.
At the exhibition, the company presented its export potential and the products of its own enterprises; a number of negotiations with potential partners on priority areas of export-import operations are planned.
Magnit is the only retailer in Russia that has its own food production facilities. The company owns 17 enterprises in different regions of the country, which produce about 500 types of food products. In 2020, they produced 310 tons of products.
At the same time, enterprises are focused not only on domestic demand and meeting the company's own needs for high-quality products for their own brands. Magnit is actively developing its export business. So, by the end of 2020, the company shipped about 500 tons of its own products. Deliveries were made to the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Belarus and other countries.
In addition, Magnit is building long-term partnerships with external suppliers, exploring, among other things, the possibility of direct import of exclusive products and raw materials for the development of unique private label lines.
In 2021, the company plans to increase the volume of supplies and actively develop the import direction. In particular, "Magnit" considers the Republic of Uzbekistan as a key partner for the direct import of food products, primarily fruits, and light industry products. These categories of goods are in good demand in Russia and will give the retailer the opportunity to form a unique offer for buyers.
“Our existing facilities, in particular, in the Krasnodar Territory, allow us to significantly increase our exports. These enterprises meet international standards in the field of safety and quality of production, and we want to fully exploit their potential. The opening of our office in Uzbekistan will ensure high-quality interaction with foreign partners and will allow us to develop export and import operations, in which we show great interest. We do not exclude the possibility that in the future this office may become a hub for working with the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East, ”commented Ekaterina Lobanova, director for commercial purchases and support for category management of the Magnit chain.
