Until the end of May, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade will develop proposals for regulating prices for raw materials used in polymer packaging. Its share in the cost of production reaches 30%, and for the year the price of packaging has almost doubled, the newspaper Izvestia reports.
The largest producers of foodstuffs applied to the Ministry of Agriculture en masse with the problem of growth in the cost of packaging, which during the year amounted to 70-80%. Because of this, for example, in the dairy industry, the cost of production increased by 5%.
Manufacturers are concerned that a further increase in the cost of packaging "will entail an increase in the cost of finished goods and ultimately will inevitably affect the retail prices of consumer goods."
The Ministry of Energy is studying the influence of primary polymers on the cost of packaging from this material for food products. Its share in the cost of packaging can be up to 40%, the press service of the department explained to the publication.
It is necessary to prevent an increase in the price of packaging for the agro-industrial complex, including for the food and processing industries, the Ministry of Agriculture said. The ministry stressed that it considers it important to balance supply and demand in the field of packaging materials.
However, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the situation on the polymer packaging market will not significantly affect the cost of goods, since the estimated cost of packaging in the cost of food products, according to their data, is about 5%.
