The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has developed a list of agricultural plants necessary to ensure the country's food security, reports Parliamentary Newspaper. The list of plants is contained in the draft resolution of the Government, published on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts for public discussion.
The document is called: draft resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation "On approval of the List of genera and species of agricultural plants, the production and cultivation of which is aimed at ensuring the food security of the Russian Federation, the varieties and hybrids of which are subject to inclusion in the State Register of varieties and hybrids of agricultural plants approved for use."
The list includes 46 items. Among them are grapes, buckwheat, cabbage, potatoes, hemp, corn, flax, onions, poppies, carrots, chickpeas, oats, cucumbers, sweet peppers, sunflowers, several types of wheat, beets and other well-known crops.
Public discussion of the initiative will last until August 3. If adopted, the resolution will come into force on September 1, 2023.
