The Ministry of Agriculture expects that the volume of the harvest in 2021 will provide stable prices for vegetables. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dzhambulat Khatuov, writes TASS.
According to him, the department looks at this year's harvest with optimism.
"The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia confirms that the volume of production in the organized sector allows to fully satisfy domestic demand and ensure a stable price situation in the Russian market," Khatuov noted during a meeting of the United Russia working group on stabilizing food prices.
So, this year it is planned to produce up to 7,2 million tons of potatoes, while last year it was 6,8 million tons.
According to Khatuov, the Ministry of Agriculture also noted an increase in the volume of production of the entire range of "borscht set", including carrots, cabbage, onions and cucumbers. It is assumed that the total gross volume of vegetables in 2021 will be 5,6 million tons, that is, 200 thousand tons more than last year.
It is also reported that working groups have been formed to control prices for vegetables in the regions. Monitoring is carried out both in large retail chains and at fairs. In particular, more than 500 raids have already been carried out in the Bryansk region. Prices are under control in the Kursk and Yaroslavl regions, the republics of Crimea and Sakha, as well as the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.
