The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation finalized the law on creating a green brand for products with improved environmental characteristics, Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said at the First International Agro-Industrial Forum.
“In July of this year, we prepared a draft federal law on environmentally friendly products, raw materials and food. The corresponding law was finalized taking into account public discussion. At the same time, within the framework of the unification of our concepts, within the framework of the unification of those definitions that we use, in understanding this law, we even have a new concept - this is not environmentally friendly products, but still agricultural products, raw materials and food with improved environmental characteristics ", - said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Patrushev, the selection of a segment of products with improved environmental characteristics is not a unique phenomenon in world practice. This is not about reducing quality requirements. The main difference between products manufactured under the green brand and organic is that in its production "a certain amount of high-quality, high-quality fertilizers will be used," the minister explained. At the same time, he assured, such products will be absolutely safe for humans and the environment.
The Minister expressed the hope that if organic products are more exclusive, then the green brand will be available almost everywhere.
The order to create a roadmap for protected brands of organic agricultural products was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2019.
