The capacity of modern fruit and vegetable storage facilities in Dagestan is planned to be doubled. This will satisfy the demand in the region for vegetables and fruits during the off-season, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region Battal Battalov told TASS.
“Modern fruit and vegetable storage facilities are being built in the cities of Kizlyar and Kizilyurt. A unique grape storage is being built in the Tabasaran region, which has no analogues in Dagestan. These facilities will be ready in 2022. We plan to double the capacity of vegetable stores in the region, which will help the trading system during the off-season,” Battalov said.
According to the minister, in 2022 the sown area in the republic will also increase by 10 hectares compared to 2021. In particular, the area under potatoes and cabbage will grow. Also this year, about 900 hectares of new gardens are planned to be planted in the region.
