This week, a positive trend in carrot prices was recorded on the Russian market, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. According to key market players, a slight increase in prices in this segment is due to an increase in demand for carrots.
Today, farmers in the main regions of production ship high-quality carrots at 9-17 rubles / kg ($ 0,13-0,25 / kg), which is on average 9% more expensive than at the end of last working week. However, at the same time, industry experts emphasize that the upward trend in prices is observed exclusively in the high-quality carrot segment, which is purchased for bookmarking in storages. At the same time, farms offer products unsuitable for storage from 7 rubles / kg ($ 0,10 / kg), and farmers declare their readiness to continue to concede in the price of such products.
It is worth noting that even despite the increase in prices, carrots in the Russian market today are on average 10% cheaper than in the same period last year. At the same time, market participants do not exclude that the price growth trend may be temporary, since in many regions of Russia harvesting companies for this root crop still continue.
