Carrot prices have increased this week in Ukraine, project analysts report Eastfruit... According to key market players, the rise in prices for carrots is due to the intensification of trade and procurement activities, since wholesale companies and retail chains have begun to form stocks for the period of the New Year holidays.
Today, farmers in the main production regions ship high-quality carrots at $ 0,22-0,29 / kg, which is on average 17% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
Most of the farms have suspended sales in anticipation of further price increases and stockpiled the bulk of carrots in storage. They offer only surpluses for sale, as a result of which the supply on the market has somewhat decreased, which in turn also contributed to the growth of selling prices.
At the moment, the price of high-quality carrots in Ukraine is already 2,2 times higher on average than a year ago. But, according to market participants, the upward trend in prices may be a temporary phenomenon. Further price increases could motivate farmers to start selling carrots from storage, leading to increased supplies and lower selling prices.
