Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Sanosyan and Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Region Nikolay Denisov visited the Arzamas municipal district, where they assessed the progress of the harvesting campaign, reports press service of the Government of NizhegorskOdsk regionи.
“Now farmers' efforts are focused on harvesting potatoes, vegetables and other crops. As a result of the harvest, we expect to get a harvest higher than last year for all major types of crops. Already today, with full confidence, we can say that we will close our needs for grain and potatoes of our own production, ”said Andrey Sanosyan.
The Deputy Governor noted that the Arzamas District is traditionally the leader in the Nizhny Novgorod Region in potato production: by the end of 2021, local farmers have already harvested 185,2 thousand tons, which accounted for 47% of the total in the region. This year, agricultural organizations and farms of the Nizhny Novgorod region plan to produce more than 420 thousand tons of potatoes.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Region Nikolay Denisov noted that the quality of field work largely depends on the availability of high-performance equipment.
“Despite the difficulties with the supply of imported equipment and spare parts for them due to sanctions restrictions, during the period of sowing and harvesting, a high level of technical readiness was ensured in the region's farms. Farmers continue to purchase new equipment: since the beginning of this year, more than 600 units have been purchased for more than 3 billion rubles. Basically, these are equipment of Russian, Belarusian and Chinese production, ”said Nikolay Denisov.
The head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture recalled that more than 680 million rubles are provided for the technical re-equipment of agricultural enterprises and farms in the regional budget for this year.
Recall that more than 5,4 billion rubles of subsidies were allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which over 3,7 billion rubles have already been brought to agricultural producers. The funds were used to carry out spring field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; to support producers of milk and vegetables, support personnel and other areas.
