Under the 2020 harvest, agricultural producers stockpiled 81,5 thousand tons of grain seeds, 37,5 thousand tons of potatoes, 280 tons of flax, 200 tons of perennial herbs.
Agricultural producers of the Nizhny Novgorod region received more than 270 million rubles of subsidies to support elite seed production in 2019, which was 1,5 times higher than the level of 2018.
“The state reimburses agricultural producers for part of the costs of purchasing elite seeds, which allows them to replace old varieties with new ones, more productive and better in quality. This contributes to the growth of yields and the production of high-quality crop products, ”said Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Currently, agricultural producers of the region are preparing seed material for future sowing, sorting and finalizing seeds. Under the 2020 harvest, 81,5 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops (99% of the need), 37,5 thousand tons of potatoes (98%), 280 tons of long flax (87%), 200 tons of perennial grasses were poured into the seed fund in the seed fund (58) XNUMX%).
The Minister recalled that in the region there are 34 elite seed farms that sell elite seeds of grain and leguminous crops, potatoes, perennial grasses, which allows agrarians to carry out varietal change and varietal renewal.
Earlier it was reported that according to the results of the harvesting campaign, growth was achieved across the entire spectrum of crops. In particular, grain production increased - by 60 thousand tons, potatoes - by 100 thousand tons, sugar beets - by 150 thousand tons, vegetables - by 16 thousand tons, fruit and berry products - by 140 tons. In 2019, 1,2 million tons of grain were harvested, more than 490 thousand tons of potatoes (excluding the personal sector), 41 thousand tons of vegetables (excluding the personal sector), about 450 thousand tons of sugar beets, more than 500 tons of fruits and berries .
Recall that by decision of the head of the region, Gleb Nikitin, the state support for agriculture in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2019 was increased by almost 30% from the regional budget.
