To meet the needs of the regions in potatoes and vegetables in Russia, the geography of railway transportation of agricultural products at a preferential tariff is expanding. The decree on this was signed by the Chairman of the Government Mikhail Mishustin.
The state began to subsidize the transportation of agricultural products by rail in 2019. Transportation at a reduced rate provides for all types of cargo shipments: both in wagons and in containers.
The decision taken by the Government will allow to establish the necessary volume of supplies of agricultural products to the regions where its deficit is predicted, to support agricultural producers, and to reduce the cost of transporting agricultural goods around the country.
According to the new decree, the transportation of vegetables and potatoes at a reduced rate will now be possible from Dagestan, Krasnodar Territory and Astrakhan Region to the regions of the Central, North-West, Volga and Ural Federal Districts.
This measure will be in effect until the end of 2022. Previously, vegetable products could be transported at a reduced rate only from the Siberian and Ural federal districts to the regions of the Far East.
The decree also provides for the resumption of preferential transportation of grain crops from the Kemerovo region to the regions of the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts, as well as to Dagestan, Krasnodar Territory, Astrakhan and Rostov Regions. This decision was made in connection with a grain surplus in Kuzbass.
