The issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed by the governor of the Omsk region Alexander Burkov and the head of the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan Ergash Saliev.
In April this year, the governor of the Omsk region and his colleague from the Jizzakh region signed an agreement and a roadmap for the development of cooperation. Now the Omsk delegation, which included members of the regional government, rectors of the largest Omsk universities, representatives of industrial, agricultural and textile enterprises, is working in the Jizzakh region to discuss joint projects.
“We have a number of areas in which cooperation with the Jizzakh side can be fruitful. First of all, this is the agricultural sector: supplies from the Jizzakh region of early vegetables and fruits, which they can bring to us in May, but in the fall we are ready to supply our potatoes to Uzbekistan - there is such a need. In addition, partners are interested in our flour and grain. They also discussed the supply of agricultural machinery: grain and tillage equipment, sowing complexes. During this visit, representatives of our enterprises will meet with local farmers to discuss their requests in detail,” said Alexander Burkov about the goals of the official visit of the Omsk delegation to the Jizzakh region.
“My colleague suggested several areas in which we could cooperate. First of all, this is work on agricultural machines that are produced in the Omsk region. This is important for us, because after all, 50% of our gross domestic product is agriculture. At present, we buy equipment in China and Turkey, but I have already carried out a preliminary analysis of the technical characteristics of Omsk machines and I can say that they are more suitable for our lands. It would be interesting for us to work with Omsk scientists who are preparing seeds. Be sure to consider the possibility of their import to Uzbekistan. This year, we purchased seeds from Russia for almost $20 million,” said the head of the Jizzakh region, Ergash Saliev.
Together with the official delegation, Alexander Burkov visited the largest production sites of the Jizzakh region, as well as a branch of the Kazan Federal University in the city of Jizzakh.
It should be noted that within the framework of the official visit to Uzbekistan, the Omsk delegation will also visit the Navoi region. Alexander Burkov is scheduled to meet with the head of the region Normat Tursunov, visit the Navoi Free Economic Zone and conduct b2b contacts.
