On September 16, the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev discussed the current indicators and prospects for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Irkutsk region with the governor of the region Igor Kobzeev, reports official website of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. During the working trip, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture also got acquainted with the work of a number of agricultural enterprises and visited one of the oldest agricultural universities in Siberia.
The agro-industrial complex of the Irkutsk region is showing steady growth, thanks in part to government support. This year, 1,7 billion rubles were allocated to the region, the level of development already exceeds 80%.
Now there is an active harvest of potatoes and vegetables: the yield exceeds last year. Dmitry Patrushev noted the growth of the sown area in 2022 to almost 700 thousand hectares. Now the process of planning for the next year is actively underway, the region has previously announced a further increase in the area.
Ameliorative measures also serve as a reserve for this. In the agricultural production of the region, all reclaimed lands are already being used, which is a good basis for the implementation of a new profile state program.
Separately, at the meeting, they discussed improving the quality of life in the countryside. Within the framework of the state program "Integrated Development of Rural Territories" this year the region participates in 6 events. This includes projects aimed at improving rural areas and improving the living conditions of citizens, as well as the implementation of the federal project “Modern appearance of rural areas”. At the beginning of September, development through the Ministry of Agriculture exceeds 70%. The Irkutsk State Agrarian University provides the agro-industrial complex with professional personnel. In the university, which has been training specialists since 1934, Dmitry Patrushev, in particular, got acquainted with the training class of the Minsk Tractor Plant, where future mechanical engineers are taught maintenance and repair of equipment. In total, more than 8,5 thousand students are currently studying at the university in such areas as land management, agrochemistry, agroengineering, animal science and many other specialties.
