The Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory has signed a contract for 50 million rubles with the FSBI "Stavropol paramilitary service". The contractor must ensure the protection of crops in the region from the effects of hail from May 8 to June 8, 2021.
Protection of fields from hail consists in bombarding the clouds with special projectiles that prevent dangerous ice precipitation from spilling out.
In total, 830 thousand hectares of land fall under the protection of anti-hail guns. On the territory of the region there are 44 artillery installations for bombarding the clouds. Most installations are located on the territory of the Kochubeevsky district - 18.
This year, two points of impact were moved from the Andropovskiy region to the Foothill region, to the territory of OOO Klen.
“Taking into account the relocation of two points, the protected area in the Andropov district will be 170 thousand hectares, in the Piedmont district - 149 thousand hectares,” said Vyacheslav Dryiger, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Hail is considered the most dangerous meteorological phenomenon for crops. Last year, ice precipitation accounted for 63% of unfavorable weather events in the region. During the summer season, there are four to 13 cases of hail, which threaten agricultural crops with death. For the fight against hail in the region, 50 million rubles are allocated annually.
