First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergey Mitin held a round table on the topic "On measures to ensure the growth of production of domestic fruit and vegetable products to meet the needs of the domestic market."
The event was attended by the heads of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Rosselkhoznadzor, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, representatives of scientific and educational institutions, as well as public organizations.
RV Nekrasov, Director of the Department of Plant Growing, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, made a keynote speech. He noted that 6,7 million tons of potatoes were harvested in the organized sector this year.
Harvesting figures for potatoes and vegetables are close to the 2020 food security Doctrine targets. In his report, Roman Vladimirovich especially noted the positive trend of the dynamics of vegetable production in winter greenhouses, and also gave an analysis of key support measures from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia for the development of horticulture.
He also noted that the Ministry of Agriculture planned to increase the harvest of potatoes and vegetable products by 2025 by an average of 15% compared to 2021.
