The total area of agricultural crops killed due to bad weather and waterlogged soil in Udmurtia reached 41,6 thousand hectares, according to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.
Since August 15, the emergency mode has been operating in the republic, which was introduced due to waterlogging of the soil. This did not allow many farmers to go to field work and in time to prepare feed for animals, as well as to harvest crops.
“The total area of crops killed due to bad weather has approached 41,6 thousand hectares. These are perennial and annual grasses, cereals and legumes, flax, rapeseed, potatoes. According to operational data as of 23 August, all regions have started threshing grain and legumes. The last to leave for the harvest this week were Kezsky, Yarsky and Igrinsky districts, ”the message says.
According to the ministry, with the plan of 342,7 thousand hectares for grain and forage, 59 thousand hectares have been threshed. 126,6 thousand tons of grain were harvested from the fields, in 2018, as of August 23, the figure was 288,1 thousand tons. “The current week in the republic has been warm and sunny. In the southern regions, harvesting has taken a good pace. In the north, the main difficulty remains an excess of moisture, while the machinery can only enter certain fields, ”the message says.
In addition, the harvesting of fodder continues on the farms. Hay harvested 111,3 thousand tons, which is 63% of the plan, haylage - 866,2 thousand tons - this is 110% of the plan, 828,1 thousand tons of silage was laid - 53% of the plan. “Commissions have been established to assess the damage to agricultural producers in all regions,” the ministry said.
Due to the weather, the emergency mode was introduced in two more Volga regions in the Perm Territory due to rains and in six districts of Bashkiria due to drought. Also, crops suffered in several regions of Siberia from the weather. At the same time, experts reported that the weather will not lead to a decrease in yield and grain shortages in the country. Losses from bad weather in Udmurtia were suffered by more than 700 agricultural enterprises. In this regard, the government of the republic decided to allocate subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of farmers in agricultural insurance. The corresponding order was previously signed by the chairman of the regional government Yaroslav Semenov.
