The authorities of the Moscow region intend to allocate 500 million rubles from the regional budget to fight the Sosnovsky hogweed in the region. This was reported by the governor of the region Andrei Vorobyov at a meeting of the Moscow Region Government.
Hogweed is a poisonous weed that can cause skin inflammation.
“From early spring, all the necessary measures must be taken so that this noxious weed [Sosnovsky's cow parsnip] disappears from the territory of the Moscow region. We have allocated almost half a billion rubles for these events, ”said Vorobyov.
According to him, weed control will be conducted along the roads, as well as on private, as well as on municipal and unrestricted land.
In 2018, 200 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for these measures.
As TASS was told in the press service of the Moscow Region parliament, in August 2018, the Moscow Regional Duma made changes to the Administrative Code of the Moscow Region: responsibility was established for legal entities and citizens for failure to take measures to combat hogweed in areas owned or used. In case of failure to fulfill this obligation, administrative liability is provided: for citizens 2-5 thousand rubles, for officials - 20-50 thousand rubles, for legal entities - 150 thousand - 1 million rubles.
