The fifth anniversary Potato Russia Potato Field Day was held on a large scale on August 2 on the basis of one of the largest farms in the Samara Region - SKORPION LLC (Samara Vegetables Group of Companies).
Despite the fact that the holiday was held in a rather warm region and, according to the calendar, the summer was in full swing, the day turned out to be cloudy, which added drama to the photo report, but did not in any way affect the mood of the audience, which this year was a record number - over 1400 people ... The guests came not only from all over Russia, but also from the countries of near and far abroad - from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, USA, Germany and Holland. Among the visitors were not only potato growers, but also many vegetable growers, which is not surprising, given how the range of equipment exhibited at the Field Day has expanded in recent years. The event was traditionally organized by the GRIMME Group of Companies. By the way, this year the celebration was attended by representatives of the agricultural machinery plant GRIMME from Germany, including the youngest son of Franz and Christina Grimme - Philippe Grimme.
The exhibition featured a wide range of new products from the general partners of Potato Russia: AMAZONE, BAYER, VALLEY, MANITOU, PETKUS, AGROPAK, John Deere, HZPC Sadokas, German Seed Alliance, Norika and Europlant. All of them prepared vivid expositions for the international public, many organized contests and demos.
In addition to these enterprises, 50 more participating companies from around the world presented their products at the event. Among them were manufacturers of agricultural machinery, seeds, plant protection products, irrigation systems and microclimate; companies involved in the construction of warehouses and storage facilities, suppliers of navigation systems and many others.
The highlight of Potato Russia was the extensive field demonstrations of the equipment of the GRIMME group of companies. Among the new products were presented: Device for erosion protection Terra Protect.
The TerraProtect system consists of a rock-protected loosening tooth, one for each row, and a subsequent crater which is used on planters or cutters. The ripper tines loosen the surface, thereby increasing the ability to absorb moisture in the soil. The crater, adapted to the contour of the ridge, creates dimples between the ridges for storing water. Various adjustment options ensure optimum adaptation to soil conditions. This protects the fertile soil, which in turn ensures an even water supply to the plants.
Four-row self-propelled harvester VARITRON 470
The harvester is highly adaptable to various conditions thanks to a wide selection of separation devices (MultiSep, roller cage, small tops elevator) and high productivity.
From the comfortable cab, the driver has a good view of the digging device and screening conveyors. The modern Mercedes-Benz engine complies with the IV emission level and, thanks to the motorized movement, is very economical.
The company ASA-LIFT showed the T-255 DF carrot harvester in operation with a new demolition device, collecting section and stone protection SPUDNIK demonstrated a compact mobile Eliminator 992 AirSep for gentle separation of impurities with an air stream.
The public was able to appreciate the advantages of Brettmeister's high-performance dirt-separating transfer trailer. The dock conveyor has a four-fold bend and a hydraulic adjustment of 1050 mm width and can also be equipped with a roller cage or polyurethane rollers.
Field Day guests also had the opportunity to visit demonstration areas of potato varieties and plant protection products.
In addition to business events, an extensive entertainment program awaited the guests of the forum. Those interested could become participants in a competition for high-speed peeling of potatoes, show erudition in quizzes, receive a friendly cartoon from professional artists, taste exquisite wine made from Samara grapes (produced by Samara Grapes LLC, part of the Samara Vegetables Group of Companies).
An important event of the Field Day was the summing up of the results of the annual competition for the best photograph of GRIMME, SPUDNIK equipment, ASA-LIFT... By the decision of the jury, the winner was the author of the warmest and most cordial picture - Elena Geleta from the Novgorod region. The second place was taken by Ekaterina Dmitrieva from the Nizhny Novgorod region, who talked about how it is customary to prepare for cleaning in her region. And the third was Galina Dimashova (Nizhny Novgorod Region), who linked the future with GRIMME technology.
By tradition, Potato Field Day has become a place for the exchange of new knowledge, ideas and impressions, has served as a platform for communication on important topics among like-minded people from around the world.
Potato Russia 2019, as always, was generous with wonderful impressions, emotions and, of course, gifts. All this will help preserve the memory of the holiday until next summer.
