According to the data of the daily price monitoring of the EastFruit project, this week in the Russian market there was a significant decrease in prices for carrots, due to an increase in the supply of early and medium varieties from local farms.
So, only in the last week carrots in Russian households have fallen in price by 11% on average, and today in the main regions of production these products are offered at a price of 8-15 rubles / kg ($ 0,12-0,23 / kg).
Industry experts associate the decrease in the cost of carrots with the rapid growth in the supply of these products on the market - more and more manufacturers this week announced the start of harvesting. An additional factor putting pressure on prices is the rather moderate demand for carrots.
Note that at the moment, carrots in the Russian Federation already cost an average of 13% cheaper than in early autumn 2018. At the same time, farmers do not yet expect an improvement in the situation, since the supply of this root crop is excessive today, and so far it has not been possible to relieve the market due to the low sales pace.
