Roskachestvo considers it necessary to expand the list of controlled pesticides in Russia. This is stated in the message of the organization, reports TASS.
“It is proposed to supplement the existing list with more than 100 names of the most actively used pesticides. This measure is aimed at ensuring food security of the country and will have a positive effect on the quality of products sold on the Russian market, ”the message says.
As explained in the organization, in Russia agricultural products on the domestic market are checked exclusively for the content of pesticides, which are included in the lists of standards regulated in our country. At the moment, this list consists of only 13 pesticides (11 are prohibited and for two there are limits for the content). Most of them are no longer used in agricultural production; accordingly, the problem of updating this list is acute.
Roskachestvo added that the pest control industry is constantly creating new, better products, so in the United States, Europe and Asia, the amount of pesticides for which local regulatory authorities and monitoring organizations check food is much wider. As for the Russian food market, there is a situation where, as experts explained, scheduled inspections of products for the pesticide parameter show a low percentage of detection. At the same time, when exporting domestic products, checks in Russian laboratories are carried out for a wide range of pesticides, the requirements for which are established in other countries of the world.
Thus, as noted in the organization, there is a gap between the regulatory requirements applied to food products circulating on the domestic market of the Russian Federation and for exported goods.
In its rolling research, Roskachestvo regularly screening products for the presence of more than 130 types of pesticides, regulated in the EU countries, and often detects such pesticides in products. However, officially, from the point of view of regulatory authorities, the presence of these substances at the moment is not a violation. In this regard, Roskachestvo sent the indicated initiative to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
