Rosselkhoznadzor plans to discuss the issue of simplifying the import of seeds with European colleagues in early 2020. TASS was informed about this in the press service of the department.
“Rosselkhoznadzor plans to hold a number of meetings to discuss this topic, including with the Potato Union of Russia, as well as with German business circles within the framework of Green Week 2020 in Berlin early next year,” said the official representative of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
According to him, now the supplies of planting material from the EU countries to Russia are carried out after the pre-shipment control of the consignments, which are intended for import into our country. At the same time, the export of planting material and potatoes from the non-European part of Russia to the EU is, in principle, impossible, according to the EU Directive. In 2 days, on December 14, the regulations will enter into force, which will prolong this ban, he added.
On December 12, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Oreshkin, at a meeting with the Association of European Businesses, announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Rosselkhoznadzor to hold consultations with business representatives in order to reduce unnecessary administrative barriers to the import of seeds. According to him, this issue was discussed last week during Putin's meeting with representatives of German business. The minister specified that the issue was raised by German companies.
