Carrots remain the most demanded product among the vegetables of the borsch set in the Russian market, according to the EastFruit project specialists.
Prices for carrots in Russia began to rise in early April, while the pace of trade in the last 2 weeks is also gradually increasing. Experts explain the increase in prices for these products by the fact that most local producers are running out of stocks of quality carrots. Many farmers have already managed to sell the pledged products, most large farms ship exclusively on contracts.
Today, local farmers offer high-quality carrots at 17-30 rubles / kg ($ 0,26-0,47 / kg), which is on average 16% more expensive than at the end of last working week.
It is worth noting that the increase in carrot prices does not hold back even the presence on the market of significant volumes of early imported carrots, whose prices are also at a fairly high level. Currently, carrots from Israel are sold much more expensive than domestic carrots, the prices of these products often reach 50 rubles / kg ($ 0,78 / kg).
It must be added that today the price of carrots in Russia is already on average 41% more expensive than in the same period in 2018.
